Rivermede Court residents win prizes at The Royal Windsor Flower Show
A Day to Remember – With Royalty, A Celebrity and Prizes!
Residents at Rivermede Court in Egham had a day out to remember at The Royal Windsor Flower Show. Not only did they win two prizes for their gardening abilities (second prize for their ornamental grass and for their lettuces), but they also met gardening celebrity, Alan Titchmarsh.
As a result of their clear passion for gardening and overall enjoyment of the event, they were invited by the organisers to watch the royal ribbon cutting by Sophie Wessex, the Duchess of Edinburgh.
Hanka Vlhova, Activities Co-Ordinator at Rivermede Court said, “What an amazing day out we all had! We entered six categories into competitions at The Royal Windsor Flower Show and were thrilled to have been selected as prize winners in two categories. The residents were treated like royalty at the event – and were lucky enough to spend time with Alan Titchmarsh, talking about our stunning garden at Rivermede Court. We were thrilled to be invited to the royal ribbon cutting. It certainly was a day to remember!”
Rivermede Court resident, Pat Woodison, age 87, said, “This was such a special day. I am a keen gardener and have always enjoyed watching Alan Titchmarsh on television.
To meet him at The Royal Windsor Flower Show and have the opportunity to chat to him about our garden at Rivermede Court was fantastic!”
