National Activity Awards 2024 Activities Coordinators at Rivermede Court Selected As Finalists

Two members of the Rivermede Court team have been proudly selected by the National Activity Providers Associations (NAPA) as finalists in the prestigious National Activity Awards 2024.

The awards are in recognition of their dedication, creativity and excellence in providing stimulating and tailored activities for residents at their care home.

Hanka Vlhova, Activities Co-Ordinator, is a finalist in the Working Together category which recognises the power of collaboration and partnership and highlights the principle of joint enterprise in developing creative approaches to activity and engagement.

Over the last year, Hanka has been responsible for a wide range of community collaborations enabling residents to enjoy a craft club at Egham Library, trips and educational classes with BCA Zoo, gardening competitions for the Royal Windsor Flower Show, visits to Royal Windsor Theatre and a host of initiatives with local churches, Egham Chambers of Commerce and Egham Museum. Hanka’s passion and dedication shine through in everything that she is involved with, and the needs and interests of the residents always take top priority.

Chrissie Webster, a volunteer in the activities team, has been selected as a finalist in the Unsung Hero category which recognises the invaluable contributions of the quiet champions who tirelessly contribute to activity provision without seeking recognition.

Chrissie Webster has made an invaluable contribution to enhancing the lives of residents during her three years as a volunteer at Rivermede Court. She is extremely creative and has encouraged residents to take part in outstanding art activities, including popcorn art, book folding art and reduce, reuse and recycle projects. Chrissie also supports Hanka with trips out with the residents and involvement in local community initiative. No matter what she is involved with, she always goes the extra mile for residents.

According to NAPA, ‘Hanka’s work captured attention for its transformative impact, and we are thrilled to recognise her passion and commitment. Chrissie’s nomination is a reflection of her outstanding dedication, creativity and excellence in activity provision and we are thrilled to recognise her hard work and dedication to enhancing the lives of individuals in care.”

Candice O’Neill, General Manager at Rivermede Court said, “There are only two finalists in each category and so being selected as a finalist in this hugely prestigious national competition is an incredible achievement.

“Both Hanka and Chrissie bring so much joy to our residents. They are creative, caring and completely dedicated to ensuring that residents are stimulated, connected to the community and have a wide range of activities to get involved with. They thoroughly deserve this recognition.”
