Strictly Cinnamon Residents and team members at Wellington Vale enjoy a month of Strictly Cinnamon Dancing
Wellington Vale care home in Waterlooville has enjoyed an active month in October, taking part in the Strictly Cinnamon challenge organised by the Cinnamon Luxury Care home group.
The Strictly Cinnamon initiative – created to keep residents active and spread some joy – involved celebrating the wonderful world of dance by posting a different dance on Facebook every day throughout October.
Wellington Vale rose to the challenge with staff, residents and their families all taking part in different dances. They also involved local dance groups including Fit N Funky, Classique School of Dance, Love to Jive and Showstoppers Stage School. The care home’s Parents & Baby Group even joined in, with a fantastic performance of Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.
Helen Cox, Home Admissions Advisor, Wellington Vale explains, “At Wellington Vale we love getting residents involved in really creative activities and the Strictly Cinnamon challenge was a perfect way to have fun and bring our whole community together, both inside and outside the care home.
“We’ve been so impressed by everyone’s dance moves and it’s been great to see their enjoyment at getting involved. Some of the stand-out moments for us have been staff and residents dancing together to Eye of the Tiger, Footloose and Singing in the Rain. We also had a remarkable dance from one of our residents with dementia who performed ‘I Can’t Help Falling In Love With You’ with her husband. It was truly beautiful to watch.
“Strictly Cinnamon has been such a great activity – a fantastic opportunity to showcase the fun and camaraderie at Wellington Vale and across our care home group.”
